On Saturday, August 18th Riga Motor Museum will greet the annual oldtimer meeting Riga Retro 2018 organized by Antique Automobile Club of Latvia. From 11:00 to 13:00 o’clock more than 100 old-timer vehicles of different periods of time, styles and forms will gather at the museum.
After the display of cars at Riga Motor Museum the traditional car parade through the streets of Riga will start at 13:15 o'clock. The route of the parade is Riga Motor Museum - Brivibas Street - Kalpaka Boulevard. From 14:00 to 15:00 o’clock cars will be displayed at Kalpaka Boulevard opposite to the Congress House. The event will end at the Open-Air Museum with an elegance contest.
A total of 100 ancient vehicles who represent a 100-year history of car and moto construction in Latvia and in the world, will take part in the event. There are always some real oldtimer "pearls" taking part in the event. One of them - the most prominent representative of the US automotive industry - the 1959 edition of the Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special. Exactly this year's model is one of the most exotic 20th century cars. Thanks to their cosmic rear wing "spines" these cars became real Rock n Roll era symbols and cult cars!
The 1922 FIAT 510S with a sports torpedo bodywork will be the event's oldest vehicle. The car has recently arrived in Latvia and this will be the first time that it will be shown to the Latvian public.
This will be also a debut event for a 1956 Dodge Royal and the English 1955 Riley Pathfinder, who was brought here from Australia and only 5 or 6 such cars are known worldwide. The event will also feature American muscle cars: Dodge Charger 500, Dodge Challenger and Chevrolet Corvette, as well as classics of the Soviet automobile industry - moskvich, ziguli and volga.
Antique vehicle event Riga Retro is organized by the Antique Automobile Club of Latvia in cooperation with Riga Motor Museum.
